HELP RAISE 50K
SHERRYS WEB OF SUPPORT
Sherry Taluc Echohawk, a beloved elder in many communities is known for being that person willing to help a friend or stranger. Now, Sherry needs all our help. On Sept. 15, Sherry was involved in a serious car accident with three other individuals. While everyone else sustained minor injuries, Sherry was in ICU for several days for a spinal cord injury. At 70, she is facing months of rehabilitation to learn how to walk again. For the Echohawk family, this has a devastating and rippling impact.
Sherry is the Matriarch of the family and the primary care-giver of her twin brother Jerry, who has cerebral palsy. Jerry and Sherry were living only on their social-security and already struggling to make ends meet. Now with Sherry’s injury, her daughter Autumn will become caregiver to two adults and five children. It is an impossible load unless the community helps.
Sherry has a large community to draw upon. She was a employed by TWA and American Airlines and has deep connections. She has been involved in the STL Community, including the American Indian Center, the Washington University Buder Powwow, Tne Breakfast Club, a grassroots breast cancer survivor group, The Center for Spiritual Living and is one of the founders of the Native Women's Care Circle. We are trying to raise $50K to help this intergenerational family take care of one another. As this family, faces months of Sherry’s rehabilitation at Jefferson Barracks while Autumn holds down Mo’s care and her family in Pawnee, OK they will need help with the basics from gas to meals to the peace of mind of some financial breathing room. If you have the means, please give as much as you can and share. If you are struggling as well, please consider sharing this widely in your network.
