Support Sherri After Tragic Tornado Loss
Donation protected
On July 28, a powerful tornado tore through rural Bonesteel, South Dakota, completely destroying the home and surrounding shop buildings of Sherri Schmitz Kollars, widow of Greg Kollars. Tragically, the contents of the property were uninsured, making this loss not only deeply personal, but also financially devastating.
Sherri, a lifelong member of the Bonesteel/Fairfax community, had returned to live here after the unexpected passing of her husband Greg due to a tragic motorcycle accident in late 2022.
Sherri and Greg were just beginning to live out their dream by purchasing this home from her dad, Marvin, earlier in 2022 as their planned retirement home. This property held more than just structures, it was also her childhood family farm where she grew up, the “family gathering place” for 50+ years, and the home that was designed by her mom, Betty, who passed away in 1998. Prior to the loss of Sherri’s husband, they built a shop on the property which currently held most of Greg's treasures, tools and projects. This is an unimaginable loss.
In the wake of this disaster, we know many friends, neighbors, and loved ones, both near and far, are looking for a way to support Sherri as she begins the overwhelming process of recovery and rebuilding. Any contribution, no matter the size, will mean the world to her.
