Hi everyone,
My name is Sherman, and I’m reaching out during one of the hardest times of my life. I’ve always prided myself on working hard and doing whatever it takes to stay on my feet — but right now, I’m facing circumstances I can’t overcome alone.
I lost my full-time job last December, and since then, I’ve done everything I could to stay afloat. I applied for countless part-time positions, but many turned me away for being “overqualified” — or I never heard back at all. So, I turned to gig work and drove for Instacart 12+ hours a day just to keep up with rent and bills.
When my unemployment benefits ended, I began pulling from my 401(k) just to survive. Still, I fell behind on some payments and had to make impossible choices about which bills to pay. Then, last month, things took another turn: I was in a car accident that damaged the front of my vehicle. It still ran, so I kept driving it to keep money coming in. But soon after, a severe rainstorm caused electrical damage that left my car completely undrivable — cutting off my only source of income.
Now, I’m at my last straw. I’ve been doing everything I can to stay positive while waiting to hear back from job applications and a pending settlement from another accident last year (which I won’t receive until December). I even started donating plasma to make ends meet, but recently I wasn’t allowed to donate because of a high temperature from stress and exhaustion.
I’ve run out of options. My funds are gone, my car is broken, and I’m at risk of losing my home and everything I’ve worked for. I’m scared, tired, and trying my best to hold on until things turn around — but I can’t do it without help.
If you can contribute, no matter how small, it will help me cover rent, food, and basic needs while I continue searching for stable work and wait for my settlement. Every dollar will go toward getting me through this rough patch and back on my feet.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for any support — financial, emotional, or simply by sharing this campaign. It means more than you know.
With gratitude,
Sherman
