As most of our friends and family have learned, Sherlyn was diagnosed with a rare form of terminal cancer called myelodysplastic syndrome with myelofibrosis. After spending most of the month of August in the hospital, she was sent home with family being told, "we're just going to try to keep her comfortable for her journey." Snap forward about six months and she was holding her health and impressing her doctors enough for them to tell us they were referring her to Fred Hutch Cancer Center! They wanted to see if she qualified for a bone marrow transplant to save her life. The amount of emotions we've been through is like the most extreme ride we've been on, to say the least. She was approved and before we knew it, she was on her way to Seattle to start the transplant process. This is going to be a long, hard process, but with Sherlyn's strength, I know she can do it!
Starting a GoFundMe was the last resort we wanted to do, but here we are. The help we need is based on Sherlyn needing to stay in Seattle for 4 1/2 months. She is staying at one of Fred Hutch's houses for cancer transplant patients, and even though it is a much lower fee than any hotel or BnB, at about $100/night, we have to reach out to those that love us and can help us. GoFundMe is an easy way to get the word out, so here we are. If you'd prefer to send any donations directly, just reach out and we can figure out how to make that work too. Thank you so much for your love and support during this nightmare of a storm we are fighting through!! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, Ed and Sherlyn
