Support Sherine Gayle-Slater in Her Fight for Justice
Hello, my name is Sherine Gayle-Slater and I'm starting this GoFundMe to right an injustice that occurred after I was already victimized by someone who swore to never hurt me.
Imagine being savagely assaulted, slapped in the face with open hands, hair pulled and then strangled. Not once but twice by someone who vowed to love you. That is now my reality and after seeking help from Corporal Mechael Perez of the Gwinnett County Police department, it never came.
It took a week for my case to be investigated and no charges were brought against my abuser. Instead I was forced to seek justice on my own. This was in the form of applying for a civilian warrant for arrest. The first attempt was futile because the clerk of the court mailed the notice to the wrong address, TWICE!! My second attempt was a failure. I was late by 20 minutes because of my commute from Clayton County to Gwinnett County and my case was dismissed.
I filed again and was arrested by a judge who didn't care about facts. I had all of my evidence, pictures and proof of the assault. The aggressor and his witness lied to the court under oath. Even at times contradicting each other yet the judge further victimized me by locking me up along with the perpetrator. My only other option was to throw the case out and allow the abuser to walk free. I refused !!!This is is my first and only arrest in my 43 years on earth. I did nothing wrong that day and I was brutally assaulted and then revictimized 4 months later. My attorney's sole fees (Holly Waltman) are $5000 and nothing more.
I want to regain my untainted name and have my slate wiped clean. This arrest can hinder my career, future plans and it's a stain on my pristine record.
