To the kind friend, family member, soul, or passersby who is reading this, thank you for being here. <3
My dearest friend Shendy is currently facing an incredibly difficult battle with stage three rectal cancer. Alongside them is their loving and devoted partner, Donia, who has been a constant pillar of strength and care throughout this journey.
Shendy didn’t ask me to create this GoFundMe, but as someone who loves them deeply, I want to ask for support on their behalf. Cancer is a heavy burden, not just physically and emotionally, but financially too. I’m hoping this fundraiser can help ease some of that weight, so they can focus on healing and navigating this challenging road ahead.
I met Shendy years ago while we were both working in the film industry—on Avengers: Infinity War at the Disney studios—and we became fast friends. I was instantly drawn to how fun, playful, and compassionate they were. We’d spend breaks playing hacky sack with the rest of the team (Shendy had amazing reflexes!), and I always admired their ability to keep the mood light and full of laughter, even during long days.
Shendy is an incredibly talented animator, comic artist, and previs artist. They’ve contributed to iconic projects in film and gaming including Avengers: Infinity War, Captain Marvel, Venom, Dungeons & Dragons, Spider-Man 2, and The Last of Us Part I. Their creativity, attention to detail, and heart are felt in everything they touch.
They also create a personal slice-of-life comic called Simply Micho on webtoons and instagram, following the quiet adventures of a cute rice bug named Micho, who just like Shendy, loves boba and skateboarding. Shendy’s deep love for boba is rooted in being raised in Taiwan, and their art reflects a vibrant mix of joy, humor, and cultural warmth.
As a nonbinary artist who uses they/them pronouns, Shendy brings a beautifully unique voice and perspective to their work and life - but above all, they are simply a loving, deeply creative person who deserves support during this time.
Shendy and Donia are currently navigating treatments, doctor visits, and all the uncertainty that comes with a cancer diagnosis. The financial toll of medical costs, time away from work, and everyday living expenses is growing. That’s why I’m reaching out to this community - especially those who’ve been touched by Shendy’s work, kindness, or presence - to help however they can.
Every donation no matter the size makes a real difference. And if you’re unable to give right now, sharing this page would mean the world.
Thank you for reading, sharing, and standing with these two amazing people.
With love,
Kelly
