Shelly Odian (née Lilly) is a beloved mother, wife, sister, and friend who has touched many lives with her kindness and warmth. On October 21, 2025, Shelly suffered a severe stroke that left her paralyzed on her left side. She spent a week in the ICU, then the PCU, and later in a skilled nursing facility before finally returning home in March. Throughout this journey, her family—her husband Edward, her four children, her grandchildren, her stepdaughter, and her three sisters—has stood by her side, offering love and support every step of the way.
Shelly now needs 24-hour care because she cannot walk, feed herself, or manage daily activities without help. While she and her husband are applying for caregiving assistance through the State of California, they have been approved for a limited number of hours per week, leaving most of her care to her husband, Edward, who is also the family's main provider. This has caused great emotional and financial stress for the family. We are seeking support to help cover caregiver costs over the next 6 to 8 months, giving Shelly the time and resources to regain as much mobility and independence as possible. Her daughter, Jenna, will manage the funds, which will be used only for Shelly's care and needs during her recovery.
Shelly is loved by many. During the week of her stroke, her children and sisters flew in from all over the country and stayed by her bedside, along with her husband, stepdaughter, and grandchildren to support her and ensure she received the best care possible. She has the biggest heart, a special touch with animals, plants, and babies, and is always there for others—whether you're having a bad or good day, she knows exactly what to say. She's the best cook and can make any meal taste like a chef prepared it. Any support you can offer would mean the world to our family as we help Shelly recover. Thank you for your kindness and generosity, and for being part of Shelly's support network.
