On June 26th Shelly went in for a minor outpatient surgery. The original surgery was supposed to last a 1/2 an hour. 4.5 hours later, the surgeons came back and told family that they had accidentally cut her iliac artery. She lost 2/3rds of her blood and had to have a transfusion of 6 units as she almost blead to death. The trauma surgical team and the vascular surgical team had to come in to repair the iliac artery. Shelly spent a week in the hospital, with 5 days of that being in the ICU. After being home a few days, Shelly went in for a post-surgery appt where they took 58 staples from out of her abdomen. The following day, she went back to a different doctor because the incision was open. She now has to go to daily appointments at wound care for the next 6 weeks. She will be out of work for at least 2 months. Any financial help that you could give would be greatly appreciated.
