Shelly has always been the heart of our family and a familiar face to so many in our community. In November, she was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer—a rare and challenging form that is harder to treat than most. For 40 years, Shelly has worked as a waitress at Marks Midtown Coney Island and as a house cleaner, always on her feet and helping others. Now, being homebound during treatment has been a huge adjustment for her, but she’s facing it with incredible strength and positivity. She began chemotherapy in January and will finish in June, followed by a rest period and then surgery. Her doctors are confident she will come through this stronger than ever, and we are so proud of her resilience.
Since November 2025, Shelly has been unable to work, and she may not be able to return until late this year or early next year. The financial strain of medical bills, housing, food, and everyday expenses has been overwhelming. Many people have reached out, asking how they can help, and we realized that coming together as a community is the best way to support her right now.
Thank you so much for your support for my mom. We truly appreciate it from the bottom of our hearts. Let’s help Shelly the way she’s always “served” us! Your kindness and generosity mean the world to our family as we help Shelly through this journey.
