For anyone who has had the privilege of crossing paths with Shellie, you are aware that she is as beautiful inside as she is out. She navigates life with a truly selfless heart and kind spirit. She is a devoted mother of four wonderful children, a loving wife, an attentive sister, a caring daughter, and a loyal friend. She is a pillar in our family and a constant presence who uplifts each of us with a love that knows no bounds. One of the infinite ways Shellie extends her love is through cooking for others. Sharing a homemade meal has always been her way of caring for others.
Recently, Shellie was diagnosed with end-stage kidney disease caused by an autoimmune disorder (AG1) that is attacking her kidneys and requires an immediate transplant. We are incredibly fortunate and immensely grateful that in the midst of uncertainty, we received an extraordinary gift. Without hestation, one of Shellie's younger sisters, Dana, pursued the path of becoming a living donor and has been identified as a match. Her courageous act is the miracle we were all praying for to heal our dear Shellie.
As we finalize the details of their upcoming transplant procedure, our family is outreaching for our broader community's support, as this is not a request Shellie or Dana would extend themselves.
Shellie has always prioritized the well-being of others with such grace and a smile that brightens any room. We now, unexpectedly, have an opportunity to reciprocate Shellie's steadfast love in a unique way by providing her with healing thoughts, prayers, and any contribution possible during hers and Dana's recovery journey.
As you can imagine, the path ahead comes with significant financial implications, and any contribution you are able to make will reduce the strain of the following:
1. The transplant procedure, post-procedure care, and other associated medical costs for Shellie and Dana.
2. Lost income during the procedure and recovery period.
3. Household and family needs while the income status temporarily shifts for both sisters.
Every donation (regardless of amount), every share, and every message of support promotes optimal healing for both Shellie and Dana by decreasing the strain of this unavoidable reality. From the bottom of our hearts, we sincerely thank you for your encouraging words and generosity during this time.
