My name is Shelley and I started attending camp at Rock Lake as a camper in 1970 and went on my first river trip in 1978. I fell in love with enjoying God’s creation along the river, and that began my journey of not only enjoying it for myself but sharing this opportunity with others.

As an adult, I started volunteering at RLCA as a Dean, leading both Jr. High and High School students for week-long adventures on the Au Sable River. I have since led over 20 trips since 2014. As the program evolved from canoe trips to kayaking, we began to add 10’ kayaks at our facility. However, as these camps grow in number, we are realizing that many of our young high schoolers struggle to fit comfortably in a 10-footer.

This year, we are offering 2 river trips with 23 campers registered. We would like to add 3 12’ kayaks to meet the needs of our campers. Won’t you please help us make these adventures even more enjoyable by navigating the river in a properly fitting kayak? Thank you in advance!
