Shelley is one of the most loving mothers, hardworking and selfless people I have ever known. Her precious daughter Berkely, middle child of three, suffered a heartbreaking non fatal drowning 4 years ago. Berk is a beautiful warrior, and has endured so much through her precious life. They have very challenging days ahead. Shelley received the devastating news that Berk will need a tracheostomy on 11/18. Shelley will not be able to work much and this will take a huge financial toll as it is a long road to recovery and Berk will be hospitalized for at least 2-3 weeks. Berk is constantly suffering and as a single mother Shelley is working hard to get a home that is handicap accessible for them.

As many know my perfect baby girl had a non fatal drowning almost 4 years ago. Our lives turned upside down that day and we have battled many health struggles since. Over the last 6 months her health has taken a scary down turn. She was diagnosed with epilepsy as well as a collapsed airway and restrictive lung failure. We got the devastating news that she will need a tracheostomy for the remainder of her life. While this news was a shock, we are hoping this procedure will make her more comfortable and enhance her quality of life. Berkeley is the most amazingly strong little girl, she never cries and is always laughing. She has been an inspiration and strength for so many people and has saved so many kids from drowning with her story. I am her sole caretaker and while it’s been the hardest years of my life, I have also been so blessed with the support network I have. My life is dedicated to taking care of this baby girl, I am so proud to be her mom
