Shella Mensah is a wife, mother, friend, sister, and confidant, and truly the heart of so many people’s lives. She has always been the definition of strength, independence, selflessness, and liveliness.

Since being diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, leiomyosarcoma, in 2020, and facing a recurrence in early 2024, she has been fighting with a level of courage that inspires everyone around her every single day. Even now, she continues to push forward and has already exceeded the life expectancy for someone with her condition, especially without treatment over the past several months, after doctors shared that there was nothing more they could do for her. That alone speaks to her resilience and her faith.

Watching someone so independent now have to rely on others has been one of the hardest parts of this journey. After difficult experiences and mistreatment in hospital settings, our family has made the decision to bring her care home, where she can be surrounded by love, peace, and familiar faces. We truly believe this environment, along with compassionate home care, will give her the comfort and dignity she deserves while she continues to fight.

Through it all, Shella remains strong, hopeful, and deeply rooted in her faith in God. We truly believe in her total and complete healing, that she will overcome this in Jesus’ name and one day share her testimony, giving God all the glory. Her journey is already showing so many people the importance of trusting your instincts, advocating for yourself, and leaning on faith.
