I’m Stacy and one of my

longest bestest friends is Shelby. I’ve known

Shelby for probably 9 years now. We met at work and that was that! Friends ever since. We have had some amazing times as friends. Our kids have played on teams together and are friends and our own friendship has been nothing less than a blessing to me. We have also shared some pretty awful things that no one our age should go through either. I was there when her husband Kevin got sick with cancer and passed away as a result. I watched how her and Kayden were there for him and how horrible it was for them to lose him. A year later she was there for me when I went through the same thing with my fiancé and father of my children when we lost him to cancer. It was something as best friends we never thought we would have in common, but we did. She saw me through a lot of that. And now again, it’s my turn to do what I can to help her though her fight against breast cancer.

 

Several weeks ago Shelby was diagnosed with breast cancer. At 30 years old. Just a few years after helping her husband battle cancer, she has to fight her own battle. Not one single thing is fair about this. She is graduating nursing school this summer. And going through the stress of that and now this news, and having an emergent port placed and starting chemo just weeks after diagnosis and STILL working at the hospital and STILL going to school and STILL caring for Kayden. I don’t pretend to know why this kind of stuff happens, but when it does, we rally.

 

I started this for her (much to her protest, but she knows I do what I want) lol, to help relieve some of the stress. It’s not a dent in everything that’s going on but it’s one less thing. And I know first hand, one less thing in these fights can help immensely. We love you Shelby and always remember you have an insane amount of people who love and cherish you and will be there in whatever way you need. Thanks all!
