My name is JoAnna, and I’m reaching out for help for my 14-year-old daughter, Shelby Jo. About a month ago, Shelby Jo was rushed to the ER with a dangerously high heart rate and fainting spells. After several tests, she was diagnosed with SVT and Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome—a rare heart condition that requires urgent treatment. The doctors at Nemours in Pensacola stabilized her heart rate, but it was a terrifying experience for our family.

Following her diagnosis, Shelby Jo was referred to a pediatric cardiologist in Orlando for a heart ablation surgery. This is the only specialist in our region who can perform this procedure on children, and the surgery is scheduled for April 8th. We live near the Alabama line, so traveling to Orlando is a challenge, especially since our car isn’t roadworthy and we don’t have air-conditioning. On top of that, we do not have health insurance, and I am disabled, making it impossible to cover the mounting medical bills from her appointments and the upcoming surgery.
