I am creating this fundraiser on behalf of my co worker and friend here at OCFRD Operations, Sheilly (our Telestaff Coordinator) is facing an unimaginable loss. Her husband, Edwin Ortiz, recently passed away after complications following surgery for Chiari malformation, a serious condition that affects the brain and spinal cord and often requires complex neurosurgery.
On February 1st, 2026, Edwin went in for surgery with hope that it would relieve his symptoms and give him a better quality of life. Instead, what was supposed to be a step toward healing turned into a tragedy no family is ever prepared for. He was re admitted to the hospital and, despite everything the doctors tried, Edwin did not survive.
Edwin was a wonderful and loving husband and father. Their oldest, Jiezielys, is 5 years old, Jiezied is 3, and little Izielys is just 10 months old. Their world revolved around their dad’s love, warmth, and presence, and now their lives have been changed forever.
Edwin and Sheilly were together for 16 years and married for 10 of those years. They built a life side by side, and eventually moved to Florida to give their children a better future and a place to truly call home. They dreamed of watching their kids grow, go to school, and build their own lives. No one ever imagined that Sheilly would be left to carry those dreams alone.
Right now, the financial burden is overwhelming. Sheilly is facing funeral expenses, medical bills, rent, school needs, and basic necessities for three young children, all on a single income while she is grieving. I am asking, from the bottom of my heart, for any help you can give to support this family.
Every donation, no matter the amount, will go directly toward helping Sheilly cover essential expenses and provide stability for her kids during this painful time. If you are unable to give, please consider sharing this fundraiser and keeping Sheilly, Edwin, and their children in your thoughts and prayers.
Thank you for helping us surround this family with love, compassion, and support as they begin to navigate life without their beloved husband and father.
