Sheila Tripet-Craver, my daughter, has faced unimaginable challenges over the past two years. In 2023, she was paralyzed and had only 50% blood flow in her legs. Then, in 2024, while exiting a public transportation bus in her wheelchair, the lift malfunctioned and crushed her feet. For almost a year, Sheila and her doctors fought to save her feet, battling numerous infections and hoping for a miracle. Ultimately, she had no choice but to undergo amputation, as her doctors warned that her life was at risk if she did not.

Now, Sheila is living in a motel, trying to rebuild her life while facing many obstacles. She urgently needs stable, wheelchair-accessible housing, an electric wheelchair, and prosthetics to help her regain mobility. She also has mounting medical bills that her insurance will not cover, and she needs a van with hand controls so she can visit her children and make much-needed appointments. These essentials would not only improve her health and safety, but also help her feel less isolated and depressed, giving her hope for a brighter future.
