My name is Sheila, and in earlier this year I was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer. It was an aggressive form of ovarian cancer called high-grade serous carcinoma.

My heart dropped when I heard my diagnosis because I've had 2 friends pass away from ovarian cancer. I am still extremely scared.

Around Christmas of 2024, I began having these intense cramps which I mistook for menstrual cramps. I would be in bed almost all day with heatind pads, cold compress, my sister massaging me for what felt like hours. However, a few weeks later I noticed I was having them when I wasn't menstruating. That's when I decided to make an appointment, but I never imagined cancer would be in the spectrum of causes. I prayed for it not to be cancer, but here I am! Lol

I was misdiagnosed a couple of times and given treatment that, of course, didn't ease the pain. Finally, around March, I was told my diagnosis and the course of treatment recommended.

After rounds of chemotherapy and endless drugs, my doctor suggested we try proton therapy an alternative to surgery. However, this type of therapy is only 30% covered by my insurance.

Through loans and basically all my savings, I've done 27 sessions so far. The tumors have responded well to this treatment, but I need at least 5 more to finish targeting the other smaller areas where it spread.

Needless to say, I've missed a lot of work due to all the pain & side effects. I am having no luck in trying to get the rest of the money to finish this therapy. I've exhausted all other financial resources through throughout the rest of my treatment.

I am seeking funds to pay for these last few sessions. I have to pay, at least, half upfront and the rest can be billed. I will also use your donation for the immunotherapy infusions required for after radiation treatment.
