I'm writing this with my tail between my legs, great difficulty swallowing my pride, and huge embarrassment.
My wife, the love of my life, my soulmate, and my entire world, Sheila has been in NY Presbyterian Hospital since March 18th for what was supposed to have been a routine, yet complicated surgery.
Long story short, she developed MULTIPLE post-op issues including peritonitis, internal bleeding, and infections requiring 4 more surgeries . The doctors here have been magnificent, and she continues to improve daily, but what was supposed to be a 4-5 day stay has now entered the 4th week.
If you've ever been to NYC for a weekend, you know the cost. Try to imagine a month...
Hopefully insurance is covering most of the medical costs, but hotel expenses for me (I'm not leaving without her), parking, cabs/Ubers, food, and essentials are adding up faster than I can imagine.
We are now entering week #4 with no discharge date in sight. After we (somehow) arrange for a comfortable ride home from NYC to Glenville. she's looking at 2-3 weeks in rehab before I can bring her home for good.
The LAST thing in the world that I'm looking for is charity, but at this point we have no other option but to ask for assistance.
We've both dedicated our lives to helping others, and I guess now I'm hoping for Karma to smile down upon us as opposed to being the bitch that we know she can be.
Unlike the previous post - THIS ONE IS LEGIT AND POSTED BY ME.
It breaks my heart to ask for help because I was always the one who people called when they needed help and I was always able to provide it.
If you can't afford to donate, please just keep her in your thoughts. It's been a long 3 weeks, and it'll be a long recovery at home when we finally get there.
Thanks Again,
Eric, Spike, Wags, The Big E. or whatever nickname you know me by.
