Hi, my name is Shay Perez! On August 2 while exercising a horse. The horse got spooked started to bucking and I came off! Friends ran over to me to see what happened. They called 911!

I went into the ER via ambulance. Conditions were worsened been 15 minutes of being there to Trauma. I was told that helicoptered was coming for me. I was flown from that ER to level 1 hospital received by Trauma ER, pending surgery on my broke and fractured pelvic bone, bladder and urethra from the fell Injury. The ortho doctors came in. Told me who is going to be in surgery with me: Ortho, OB, Urology and the surgery team. Surgery was pushed back to Sunday the 4th August. A lot of pain day and day out. Being nauseous. I was in the ICU for a few nights, then went to the Trauma floor for a few nights.

I am in Rehab since 8 th of August learning how to get my strength back. I can’t walk for 12 weeks. So it’s gonna be a long trail in a wheelchair. But I have my strength. But I’ve my mental strength! Rehab says I’m doing really well and I know that I am!

Friends & Family encouragement to keep going. I have a Foley for 3 weeks! Painful some days! Then I go back to urology. For a procedure by Scope of my bladder. I pray that my Foley comes out that day. I have goals to get back home and see my horses, dogs, chickens and rabbits. Then my next goal is to go back to work. I miss my work family. I’m a ER Tech at a busy emergency room working nights! I can’t to see everyone that took good care of me. That morning of my accident! Then I do want to get back in the saddle!
