Hi, my name is Jessica and I am setting this up for support for my sister who has unexpectedly been told she is going to have her left leg amputated. She is 29 years old and a single mother to a 6 year old boy on a fixed income. Shawntel developed a blood clotting disorder after childbirth 6 years ago and it was managed with medication until 2 months when the clots resurfaced into her heart and lungs as well as her left leg. After 4 surgeries on her leg to remove blood clots, they are no longer being managed without complication of blood infections and internal bleeding, therefore they have made the decision to amputate her leg. There will be lots of life altering changes she will need to make and all of this comes with a cost that she can’t afford. With this news comes the unexpected financial burdens and I would like to be able to help reduce some of the stress and pressure so that she can focus on recovery.
