On Sunday, August 3rd, Shawn experienced a severe and unexpected stroke. Despite being very healthy and active, doctors have not been able to explain why it happened. By God’s grace, Shawn has already made remarkable progress, and he is now home from the hospital.

Shawn’s recovery journey continues, but he still faces significant challenges. He has not regained speech, is experiencing weakness and disconnect on his right side, struggles with vision, and faces some cognitive confusion. These hurdles mean he will need ongoing stroke rehabilitation and specialized care.

Many of you know Shawn personally—you’ve been touched by his kindness, his encouraging words, his generosity, and his friendship. Now it is our turn to come alongside him and his family in their time of need.

This fundraiser is to help Shawn’s wife, Laura, and their son, Nicholas, as they navigate this unexpected season. With reduced income and increasing medical and care expenses, your support will help ease the financial strain and allow them to focus on what matters most: Shawn’s healing and recovery.

Every donation, no matter the size, makes a real difference. Please join us in lifting up Shawn and his family during this time—through your prayers, encouragement, and financial gifts.

Together, we can help give back to a man who has given so much to others.

Shawn is currently being placed in the DoD Army Emergency Leave Donation program as he will exhaust all of his annual and sick leave in the very near future. If you are a DoD Army Civilian and you’d like to donate some of your unused annual leave to help Shawn please reach out to Laura directly through Facebook messenger. She can provide the details on how to submit the documentation to process the leave transfer so the hours can be applied to Shawn's available leave balance.
