Support Shawn’s Fight: Kidney Failure, Complications, & Hope

As many of you know, Shawn Pickett is a truly exceptional person—always there with a smile, a helping hand, and a heart full of love for friends and family. Unfortunately, Shawn has recently faced some serious health and financial setbacks that have turned his world upside down.

Years ago, Shawn went through the unimaginable: his kidneys failed, and he spent a year and a half undergoing daily dialysis while waiting on the transplant list. Thankfully, a donor came through, and Shawn received a kidney transplant that gave him a new lease on life for over two decades. But now, that kidney has failed.

In addition to facing this new health challenge, Shawn recently suffered a minor heart attack. He’s currently in the ICU in Fort Myers, receiving critical care. While we are grateful that Shawn has health insurance through his job, the road ahead is long and uncertain.

Shawn is starting dialysis once again, and he’ll need time to heal not only from kidney failure but also from his heart condition. Just two months ago, Shawn was involved in a car accident, and now that dialysis will be part of his daily routine again, his vehicle will also need repairs to ensure he can continue receiving the care he needs.

For those who know Shawn, you know he’s never been one to ask for help. But this time, he needs the kindness of his friends, family, and community. Shawn has always been the kind of person who steps up when others are in need—Whether it was being there for me after the loss of my brother and honoring his memory by stepping in as a big brother from that day forward, or showing up for his loved ones whenever they needed him, Shawn has always been the kind of person who steps up when others are in need.

Now, it's our turn to come through for him.
