Anyone that knows Jenny and Shawn, they would never in a million years ask anyone for help. Ever. They are the ones that help others, and support them in any way that they can. But now they need our help.
Shawn was admitted into the ICU on Christmas Eve. He was placed on life support and is in critical condition currently. He had been sick with what they thought was just the flu, but then the last few days before he went in, he was starting to have a really hard time breathing. Christmas Eve, he was in really rough shape and Jenny ended up having to call 911. He did end up testing positive for the flu, which can be this extreme, but he also tested positive for a staph infection as well. He came into the hospital in acute respiratory distress. He is not conscious, as he has been placed in a medically induced coma to try and let his body rest. He is very sick, and it is very much touch and go right now. The ventilator is to regulate his breathing and he has been placed in a machine that turns him constantly and rotates him for 18 hrs to take pressure off different parts of his lungs, and allow them to rest and for fluid not to settle. At this point, every supportive measure is in place and is up to him and his body on how it will fight back. He has a great team of doctors here, but we are going hour by hour at this point.
With Shawn not working, and the financial burden that is now solely on Jenny - this family needs our help. Not only to support, but the costs that will come with Shawn's extremely long road to recovery. The doctors believe he has a very good chance of coming out of this permanently disabled if he is able to survive. Costs associated with that, are going to be a lot for this family to handle. Let's pull together and help them in their time of need, as they always do for everyone else. I know it's hard right after Christmas, but whatever you can spare I know Shawn, Jenny and Avery will be forever grateful. Thank you.
