Support Shawn's Educational Journey at SFSU

We are reaching out with an urgent mutual aid request for a beloved comrade, Shawn (they/them). Shawn is born and raised in San Francisco, and is an amazing mutual aid organizer who continues to show out for community even as they hold multiple jobs while going to school. They fight fiercely for a just world for queer and trans folks in the city, and we have been so lucky to be in space with them. It is a true honor to organize along a powerful Black queer comrade ☀️

They are in need of immediate funds to continue their semester at SFSU. They have been unable to secure work opportunities because they have another semester to complete at SFSU before receiving their well earned bachelor’s degree. They have maintained a 4.0 GPA for their schooling, and the only prohibiting factor is the cost of tuition

✨We are urgently raising $5k to pay for ✨

$4,000 in overdue charges for previous classes at SF State

$500 for current enrollment fees for courses

$500 for books, rent support, and cost of living support

We are asking comrades to practice our shared values of abolition, and support Shawn’s educational journey. As our working class communities continue to be priced out of living in San Francisco, we must all join the class struggle and give where we can, even when it feels uncomfortable We encourage folks to navigate past a scarcity mindset, and we know we have all the resources we need in this community. Especially for folks who are transplants and hold wealth privilege in the Bay - this is your time to show up materially and clear out this mutual aid request. In these moments, we know that when we turn to community with a strong ask for help, community will show up We trust that we will move above and beyond just this initial $5k, so we can ensure that Shawn can stay enrolled in SFSU as tuition costs rise
