Hi my name is Shawn.
Earlier this week, I had a sudden seizure with no warning and was rushed to the ER. Imaging revealed a brain tumor in my right temporal lobe, about the size of a grape. After full-body scans, doctors are confident this is a primary brain tumor and not cancer that spread from elsewhere.
I am scheduled for brain surgery next Tuesday. The goal is to remove as much of the tumor as possible, or at minimum perform a biopsy. Because of the tumor’s depth, doctors do not yet know if they will be able to remove it completely. Even with a successful surgery, there is a risk of neurological damage, including weakness or loss of motor function on my left side.
If the tumor cannot be fully removed, I will need to recover from surgery and then begin aggressive chemotherapy to target what remains. That process will be physically exhausting and will make working impossible during treatment and recovery.
I am currently employed only because of FMLA protection. Due to the seizure and diagnosis, I can no longer drive a semi truck, which means I am losing the career I’ve built my life around. Once FMLA ends, my income will as well. While recovering, undergoing treatment, and adapting to possible long-term effects, I will need to find an entirely new career.
This fundraiser is to help cover:
Medical bills related to surgery, hospitalization, chemotherapy, and follow-up care
Lost income during recovery and treatment
Basic living expenses so I can support my wife and family while I heal and work toward a new future
I’ve always worked for what I had and never expected to be in this position. This diagnosis came without warning and changed everything in a matter of hours. Any support helps reduce the financial strain so I can focus on recovery and being there for my family.
If you’re able to donate, thank you. If not, sharing this means just as much. I truly appreciate you taking the time to read this
