Friends! Family! Acquaintances!

As you may know, my Uncle Shawn is bravely battling for his life. He was hospitalized for 55 consecutive days from the day of diagnosis back in early March. He’s been in and out of the hospital for around-the-clock treatments, along with numerous visits each week for blood, labs, and home nurse visits.

He hasn’t been able to work during this time, and my aunt is managing to work only part-time as she has to take him to all of his appointments and treatments. Unfortunately, his social security disability approval will take 6 to 8 months, leaving them with less than livable income.

You can only imagine the emotions they are feeling. The stress. The heartaches.

The treatments are not working like they should. The time has come that he will need a bone marrow transplant. Family has been tested and so far we have only one half match. We have to try it. My uncle is expected to be in the hospital again for at least a month to prepare for the transplant, which is set to take place in 6 to 8 weeks. The medications he must take as part of his preparation could potentially make him feel even worse than he does now.

Everything has been happening far too quickly for them. They are facing significant challenges mentally, physically, and especially financially. Let’s come together to pray and support them during this difficult time.
