I am organizing this fundraiser for my amazing niece, Shawna. Originally diagnosed with a very aggressive form of breast cancer in early 2023, just before her 38th birthday, Shawna underwent aggressive treatment for 16 months, including two different chemos, surgery, radiation, and immunotherapy. Unfortunately, the cancer returned within three months, and she is now undergoing more chemo treatments before having more surgery.

To say Shawna’s family has been through hell is an understatement. Her husband is a career serviceman (Coast Guard) and she has two awesome kids, Korban (age 11) and Kimber (age 10).

Most medical expenses have been covered by her husband’s military insurance. But because of the aggressive nature of this cancer and the fact it returned so quickly, we feel she needs more in the way of integrative cancer support and therapy. These things are super expensive and unfortunately, insurance does not pay for them.

Shawna has never asked for help. She drives herself to and from her weekly cancer treatment, continues to work as a horse trainer, and doesn’t take a day off from caring for her family no matter how sick from chemo or tired she may become.

We are very concerned about how this third round of chemo is going to affect her body.
