I just found out that the doctor I was planning to see is no longer able to help. She has referred me to the Mayo Clinic in Az. This was my backup option anyway. However, they do not accept my insurance there. The initial consult is $5,000 and the average treatment cost is $52,000 if there is no complication. This can easily turn into something closer to $168,000 but hopefully it won’t :)

Hello Everyone,

As many of you know, I have been dealing with this non-healing wound for 18 years. After 9 years, it was diagnosed as Pyoderma Gangrenosum. It is a rare disease that so far does not have a proven cure. With no underlying conditions that the doctors can find, insurance labels my treatments as “Experimental.” Consequently, that means they only cover 20%.

As someone who has always worked hard to be self-sufficient, asking for help isn't easy, but I've reached a point where I need support from my community.

I have found a doctor in California who has been working on a treatment since 2014. I am wanting to go down there as she has had the best lasting results. The treatment will take 147 days. During that time, I will have to be out of work and will also be having to cover expenses that insurance won’t. There is no total yet for what the end cost will be. I am asking now for money to be able to cover living and current medical bills.
