Support Shawn Smith's Family in Their Time of Need

On Saturday, August 24th, 2024, our community lost one of its most beloved locals. Shawn Smith was everyone’s friend. He was loved by so many people. You hear that about people a lot but in Shawn’s case, it was 100% true. He was THAT guy. His friend group was massive & his friendships were life long. He was a Son to Curtis & a big Brother to Reggie. His family and extended family adored him. He was Uncle Shawn to 17 nieces & nephews who thought the world of him. He was one of the those people who everyone remembered with fondness.
Shawns most important role in life was being a devoted partner to the love of his life Denae for 22 years & Father to their 3 kids Darius, Jalen, & Kenna. His love for the 4 of them was fierce & it was unwavering. His Family meant everything to him. His kids are his legacy. You could always find him supporting them & being present in everything they decided to do in life as kids & young adults. You can’t look at any of them & not see Shawn looking back at you.
Shawns unexpected death will make a huge impact on a lot of peoples lives these next few weeks. The most impacted however will be Denae, Darius, Jalen & Kenna. They have to figure out how to move on without him & I want to make sure they can take the time they need to heal, recover & adjust to their new reality. Losing his income will affect them drastically & in a time when we are all trying to just get by, I know most of you can understand the strain this can cause.
Shawn was such an active member of our little hometown community. He loved where he was from. He had pride in this County & the people living in it. I’m asking that we give back to the guy who gave so much to those around him. We always take care of our own & right now, his family needs us to take care of them so they can process everything ahead of them. Big or small. Anything helps & is so greatly appreciated. Thank you so much, and please make sure to check on the people in your life. Always show love & kindness to those you know & even those you don’t.
