Support Shawn and Erica's Recovery from Fire
Donation protected
While the Park Fire was ripping through the little mountain town of Cohasset, a handful of residents stayed behind to save their homes, risking their lives to protect what they had worked so hard for. My brother and sister-in-law, Shawn and Erica Bryant, who had just months prior been dropped by their homeowners insurance, were among the few who made the decision to stay and fight.
Although they were in an area where the fire burned the hottest, Shawn was able to save the house. However, the rest of their property, including sheds, vehicles, and a pump house that also housed their off-grid solar battery bank, was destroyed leaving them without electricity and running water, along with thousands of dollars in tools that would help rebuild.
In the midst of almost losing their lives, and the reality of their new struggles setting in, they persevered, putting out spot fires, checking on neighbors and friends homes throughout the community. Emptying out refrigerators/freezers full of food so evacuees did not have to come home to houses reeking of rot. Taking pictures of property, both spared and destroyed, for anyone inquiring on the state of their homes, delivering either relief or sorrow.
There is so much work to be done, it is overwhelming. For so many. Please consider donating to help restore some of what was lost.
Thank you.
