At just 17, Shaun made choices that led to tragic consequences — choices no teenager should have to live with for the rest of their life. But instead of giving up, Shaun made a different choice: to grow, to change, and to work toward becoming the best version of himself — for his family, for his loved ones, and for the community he hopes to return to one day.

For over nearly three decades, Shaun has dedicated himself to learning, healing, and helping others. His list of accomplishments reflects not just personal growth, but a deep desire to give back and become a positive role model for others, including young people who might be heading down the wrong path.

Here are just a few ways Shaun has worked to turn his life around:

• Trained PTSD service dogs for military veterans for 8 years — giving back to those who’ve served our country.

• Earned his High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED).

• Maintains a 4.0 GPA while pursuing an Associate Degree in Small Business Entrepreneurship.

• Graduated from the Entrepreneur in Training (EIT) program through Defy Ventures and UW-Madison Extension.

• Completed vocational training in Dog Grooming and Animal Health & Wellness.

• Regularly participates in personal development programs, including:

• BRICK Program, mentoring and counseling at-risk youth.

• Challenges and Possibilities group.

• Restorative Justice group.

• Personal Leadership Course.

• Anger Management.

• Financial Literacy.

• Entrepreneurial Mindset Course.

• Public Speaking Course.

Shaun’s story is one of transformation — from a teenage boy who made mistakes, to a man who has dedicated his life to personal growth, accountability, and giving back however he can.
