My name is Georgia, and I have 4 children. I lost my firstborn, Benny, back in 2014 in a major car accident. Now, this is my youngest son, Shaun. He has, since the age of 13, had a lot of medical illnesses. He has 2 kinds of Lupus, mixed connective tissue disease, and a rare blood disorder called TTP. Then, last year, we all got COVID, and Shaun ended up getting pneumonia. Then his lungs started scarring, and he had to be on oxygen. After he was released, every few months he had to be admitted back to the hospital because the pneumonia wasn't going away completely. Then he would get an infection because his immune system was very low, and his lungs were not getting better. His oxygen went from 3 to 6 liters. He was put on a specialty medication that helped some, but the scarring kept growing, making it hard to breathe. This went on for the whole year. Then, in February of this year, the hospital lung doctor said he needed to be sent to a different hospital that has a specialty lung doctor. A right heart catheter test was done, and besides the scarring, he got pulmonary hypertension. His oxygen went from 6 to between 8 and 9 liters. He has gone through 2 different specialty medications for the pulmonary hypertension that did not work at all. It made his lungs worse, and the last medication ended up getting water in his lungs, which is why he had a tube put down his throat. I thought I was going to lose him, but thanks to God, the medication, and the help of the doctors, he was able to come out of the intubation. However, he required a higher flow of oxygen, and now he needs a lung transplant. The doctor says he cannot come home; he has to have the transplant. I don't put my private life out there, only how much I miss Ben. Eleven years later, and the pain doesn't get better, and now my Shaun needs a double lung transplant. We just don't have money for anything, and I pray for help. I thank everyone for their time and support.
