Shauna is a dear friend who has always been there for others in our community, often putting others' needs before her own. On New Year's Eve she went into surgery at 6pm after her life changed in an instant when she was involved in a serious car accident while visiting a friend. The impact was severe, and her airbag did not deploy, causing her to suffer extensive facial injuries. She underwent a 10-hour surgery to reconstruct her face, thanks to a skilled plastic surgeon and medical team. Thankfully, she did not sustain any brain injuries, but the road to recovery will be long and challenging.

Shauna is now conscious and aware of the difficult journey ahead. She will be out of work for an unknown period, and while she may receive some short-term disability, it will not be enough to cover her living expenses and the mounting medical bills. One of the most heartbreaking aspects is that Shauna had worked so hard to restore her smile, investing years into dental work that was destroyed in the accident. Reconstructing her teeth will be another significant expense on top of her recovery and rehabilitation.
