My name is Shauna, and I am reaching out for support during one of the most challenging times of my life. Recently, I underwent emergency brain surgery to remove a tumor the size of an orange from my left frontal lobe. The diagnosis was an astrocytoma IDH mutant stage three, which means I am now preparing for a year of chemotherapy and radiation. Just as I was beginning to recover, I developed pneumonia in both lungs—a hospital-acquired kind that is more aggressive and has delayed my treatment even further.

The stress of not being able to work and the financial losses I’ve already faced have left me feeling anxious and overwhelmed. I don’t have anyone to support me or lean on, and the encouragement from a friend to start this fundraiser was the push I needed to ask for help. I have always been hard-working and independent, but I never expected to face emergency brain surgery and such an aggressive diagnosis. The trauma and exhaustion from this experience have been immense, and I am doing my best to heal and move forward.
