Friends, with Sharon’s permission, I want to share the reality of what her life has looked like as she heals from a broken femur. Since April 2025, Sharon has been bedridden, unable to stand or walk as her femur slowly heals. The journey has been long, slow, and incredibly challenging. She depends on a CNA to help with bathing and personal care, and relies on friends and loved ones to prepare her meals at home, following her guidance. Sharon is a wonderful cook, but right now, she cannot stand due to her injury, and her right leg—the driving leg—remains immobilized.

One of the biggest hurdles Sharon faces is the cost of transportation to her many medical appointments. Because she is stretcher-bound, each ride to the doctor, for blood work, or for a CT scan is a significant out-of-pocket expense. Sometimes, appointments are scheduled on different days, which means multiple costly trips in a single week. These expenses add up quickly, and insurance does not cover them. In addition to transportation, Sharon’s daily care and basic needs require ongoing support from those around her.
