Support Sharon VanNess Overcome Her Cancer Battle

Hello! My name is Melissa Aguirre and I am the niece of Sharon Van Ness. In March of 2024, Sharon noticed her left leg became numb and that she was unable to feel most of her leg. She then went to the doctor, and after several scans and biopsies, she was unfortunately diagnosed with a rare aggressive malignant sarcoma tumor. Currently, she has an 18 cm tumor wrapped through the nerves in her lower spine. She has just had her port inserted to start chemotherapy. She is a strong woman of faith and is very hopeful that with continued prayers and treatment, she will again become cancer-free. Sharon had cervical cancer in her early 30s and came back stronger than ever. She has a long road ahead of her as she will soon start chemotherapy in rounds for a few months. She will then begin radiation and surgery.

With the help of this platform, I am hoping to take the burden of medical bills from her as she goes through this treatment process. I am asking for donations just to assist with medical bills.

This is where the money raised will go:

- Paying off medical debt already acquired from the past year.

- Paying for her ongoing care at MD Anderson (chemo, radiation, scans, surgery, etc.).

UPDATE: As of 6/26/25, Sharon started to run a fever a few days after getting her port inserted for chemotherapy. Her bones started to ache and she was brought to MD Anderson. There it was determined that she has pneumonia, an infection, and a severe blockage in her kidney that must be dealt with immediately. She will be undergoing surgery tomorrow to have a stent placed in the ureter of her kidney. This is unfortunately postponing the scheduled and much-needed chemotherapy.
