My Fight with Lupus – From Shantell Smith
Hi, my name is Shantell Smith, and I’m humbly asking for your support as I continue my battle with lupus, a serious autoimmune disease that has deeply affected every part of my life.
Living with lupus means constant pain, unpredictable flare-ups, and long periods of extreme weakness and fatigue. I’ve had to spend many nights in the hospital, attend frequent doctor visits, and rely heavily on medication just to function day to day.
Right now, I’m at a very difficult place — not just physically, but financially as well. I currently owe over 1 million Jamaican dollars to the University Hospital of the West Indies for treatments, tests, and hospital stays. This debt is growing, and I simply cannot manage it on my own.
This GoFundMe was created to help me:
Pay off my hospital bill at UHWI
Continue receiving necessary treatment and medications
Cover transportation to and from appointments
Afford basic living expenses during times I’m unable to work
I’ve always been the type to push through and not ask for much, but I’ve reached a point where I need help — and I’m not ashamed to say so. If you can give anything, I would be forever grateful. And if you’re not in a position to donate, please share this with others, or say a prayer on my behalf.
Thank you so much for your love, support, and kindness. Every bit helps me hold on to hope and strength.
With love and gratitude,
Shantell
