Hi my name is Alaina. I’m starting this for my amazing girlfriend, Shannon Casey, a firefighter and paramedic in Osceola County. Our area got 5 inches of rain that day, and later that night I got a call that she hydroplaned and rolled her truck. Luckily she was wearing a seatbelt and was able to pull herself out of the back passenger window, but she sustained a major open wound on her left arm.

The amazing firefighters/paramedics took great care stabilizing her at the scene and she was transported to AdventHealth, thankfully a familiar place for me. Luckily aside from the wound, she didn’t sustain any other injuries. However, she still had to be admitted for them to surgically remove some large pieces of glass embedded deep in her arm and stitch her back up. One surgery and one night in the hospital and we are both happy to be back at home for her to rest and recover.

Shannon works two jobs just to stay afloat, one at Osceola County FD and another at Universal as a paramedic. It was absolutely heartbreaking to see her in a hospital bed in excruciating pain, devastated with worry about how much all of this was going to cost and how she couldn’t afford to take time off from work

She definitely has some major medical bills coming and her truck is likely totaled. Those of you that know Shannon know that she goes above and beyond for her patients, friends, family, and loved ones. She is phenomenal at her job and so passionate about the care she provides. I’m so unbelievably proud of all that she does and all that she sacrifices to be there for people on their worst days.

So thankful for the fire family that came together for her already to get her shifts covered through time trades. Anything you are able to contribute to help get her back on her feet and back to doing what she loves would be greatly appreciated ❤️
