My name is Shannon and I’m a single mother doing everything I can to hold my family together after unimaginable loss and a series of life-changing hardships.

Several years ago, my children’s father was murdered in the comfort of his own home. His case was later featured on The First 48. While many people watch true crime as entertainment, for my children, it is the story of their father and one of the most traumatic experiences of their lives.

Because the episode is publicly available, classmates have searched for it, brought it up at school, and asked my children painful questions about their father’s death. Every time it happens, they are forced to relive their trauma. There have been many days when they have struggled to remain in school because the emotional weight becomes too much. As their mother, I have often had to leave work or whatever I was doing to pick them up, comfort them, and help them through those moments.

Despite everything we’ve been through, I continued working hard to provide for my family. Then another setback happened.

After purchasing a vehicle through what I believed was a completed financing process, I later learned the financing had fallen through. The vehicle was eventually taken back, leaving my family without transportation. Losing my car made it incredibly difficult to get to work, care for my children, attend appointments, buy groceries, and handle everyday responsibilities.

Without a vehicle, I now rely on walking and Tulsa public transportation to meet our daily needs. Whether it’s grocery shopping, job interviews, doctor’s appointments, or simply trying to provide for my children, every trip requires careful planning and often takes hours. There are days when I walk long distances carrying groceries because I have no other choice.

The loss of reliable transportation also contributed to me losing my job. Since then, I have been actively searching for employment and doing everything I can to rebuild our lives. I recently completed a physical and drug screening for a new job opportunity and remain hopeful that a new chapter is just around the corner.

Right now, I’m asking for help while I work toward getting back on my feet.

Your support will help us with:

Reliable transportation while I secure employment.
Household bills and essential living expenses.
Groceries and necessities for my children.
Transportation costs for interviews, appointments, and school needs.
Counseling and emotional support resources to help my children continue healing.

Asking for help has never been easy for me. I’ve always believed in working hard and finding a way, but sometimes life delivers more than one family can carry alone. Through every setback, I have continued to fight for my children because they deserve stability, peace, and the opportunity to heal.

If you are unable to donate, sharing our story would mean the world to us. Every share, every prayer, and every act of kindness helps us move one step closer to rebuilding our lives.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for believing in our family.
