Hello, I'm creating this GoFundMe to help with my sister's medical expenses for her prosthetic eye. As some of you may know what happened, some may not, so I would like to share Shannon's story with her permission.

At the end of September, Shannon was in her home and was brutally attacked by an ex-boyfriend. She was able to make it to her neighbor's home, who contacted 911, and she was rushed to the hospital, where she found out the damage sustained to her eye was likely irreversible. They performed surgery to try and reattach her retina, along with facial reconstruction. She spent several days in the hospital and was sent home without many answers but to wait and see if her eye would go back to normal size and function.

After a month and a half of experiencing severe pain day in and day out, there was no progress. Her eyesight was 100% gone, and her eye was beginning to shrink. The only solution for relief and recovery would be to remove her eye and replace it with a prosthetic; however, her insurance would only cover the removal and not the prosthetic itself.

It has been a very long road for her recovery, and she is so close to the end. She has had the eye removed. Her swelling and stitches have healed nicely, and she is waiting for her prosthetic eye to be done. This GoFundMe is to help support Shannon pay for the expense of her prosthetic eye that is completely out of pocket. Insurance has paid for her surgeries but has considered the prosthetic purely cosmetic. The estimated cost for her prosthetic is $3,500. If anyone is able to help support her by donating, she would be beyond grateful, to help her with what will now be her new normal.
