Help Shannon Fight Stage 3 Cervical Cancer

Our dear friend Shannon is in the fight of her life. She has been diagnosed with Stage 3 cervical cancer and is currently undergoing an incredibly aggressive treatment plan: 25 rounds of external-beam radiation, 5 rounds of internal radiation (brachytherapy), and 6 rounds of chemotherapy. Her last day of this grueling phase is scheduled for September 17th — but her journey doesn’t end there. Shannon will begin 18 months of Keytruda, a form of immunotherapy, following this initial treatment.

To better understand the physical toll of this journey:
• External-beam radiation therapy uses high-energy beams aimed directly at the tumor to kill cancer cells. This treatment is typically done daily, Monday through Friday, and causes severe fatigue, skin irritation, pain during urination, digestive issues, and more. It is physically and emotionally draining.
• Keytruda is a type of immunotherapy that helps the body’s immune system fight cancer. While promising, it can cause immune-related side effects like inflammation in the lungs, liver, or intestines, as well as fatigue, joint pain, and skin reactions.

On top of the immense physical battle, Shannon also faces a financial one.

She has a 40-minute commute each way to treatment every day, and her boyfriend has been taking time off work when he can and for her multiple unexpected emergency room visits, resulting in a significant loss of income for both of them. Shannon, who has always been a hard worker — often holding multiple jobs — is now unable to work at all. The financial strain of gas, medical costs, missed work, and basic living expenses is becoming overwhelming.

Shannon is the kind of person who always shows up — for her friends, her family, her partner. She’s a loyal daughter, sister, and friend who would never ask for help, but she deserves it now more than ever.

Let’s show up for her.

Every donation, big or small, will go directly to supporting Shannon’s treatment, travel, and living expenses during this time.

Please consider giving and sharing her story. Let’s help ease some of this burden so Shannon can focus on healing.
