Support Shannon to Rebuild After Devastating Fire
Donation protected
As you may already have heard, a fire devastated an apartment building in Squirrel Hill earlier this week.
Firefighters attempted to contain the disaster for hours but were unable to save the building, leaving it condemned. There is an order for the remains of the building to be demolished by the end of the week and no hope of recovery of any items in the building as it is unsafe to attempt to do so.
My dear friend Shannon and her young son Solomon have lost absolutely everything in this tragedy.
At this moment, they have no home, no clothes beyond what they were wearing the morning the fire started, no furniture, and no belongings of any kind.
She did not have renter’s insurance, and while the landlord will provide a pro-rated refund for September’s rent (around $450), it doesn’t begin to cover the loss they are facing.
Important documents and valuables were also destroyed.
For now, Shannon and Solomon are temporarily housed while they search for a new apartment.
On Shannon's behalf, I am asking for any support you can give—big or small.
Your generosity will help Shannon and Solomon to start over, rebuild their lives, and begin to heal from this unimaginable loss.
Thank you for your kindness and support during this difficult time.
P.S. The money raised will be deposited directly to Shannon's bank account. I have created this fundraiser on her behalf, as a friend, and Shannon is the added beneficiary. The above note is a requirement from the "gofundme" platform.
