It's with a heavy heart that I introduce you to my best friend & her (our) journey fighting cancer. First let me state she is the MOST gracious and giving human being I've ever come across. Even in this trying time in her life; she continues to think of her loved ones & remains strong for all of us.
Her battle - Now her War on Cancer
In 2007 Shannon was diagnosed with cervical cancer. She received Chemo & Radiation & to our amazement she went into remission. In December 2017 she was declared "cancer free" as it had been 10 years.
Sadly 2 months later; February 2018 Shannon had excruciating pain in her abdomen and was admitted to the hospital. After multiple tests we were given the heartbreaking news that cancer had once again invaded her body. This time it was stage IV and quite aggressive.
Shannon started her first round of chemo in March. The treatment and course of drugs administered did not work. The tumors in fact continue to grow.
Her second set of chemo with different drugs began in June. We were very hopeful as this regimen of drugs was called the red devil. Meaning it was harsh but effective. Again we were disappointed after another CT scan found the cancer had now spread to surrounding organs and the tumors increased in size.
Today, Shannon is participating in a clinical trial with Dr. Sarantopolous in San Antonio at Mays Cancer center. While she worked though the first 2 treatments, this dear soul could not work through the 3rd one.
We still continue to and ask for everyone's prayers. We have a strong faith and believe in the power of prayer!
In the meantime, my goal is to help Shannon financially so she can focus on her health vs. financial struggles. The hospital bills, copay's, travel to - from San Antonio & overnight stays are taxing on Shannon & her husband. Adding additional distress is the fact that she will be on long term disability; where she will only receive 60% of her salary.
Friends, Family & Guests, I ask that you find it in your heart to donate anything you can to help our precious Shannon. No amount is to small, even $5 helps.
God bless all of you & thank you for reading, sharing & donating.
