For the past three years, my mother-in-law, Shannon Holscher, has been battling a rare infection in her face. She has undergone numerous surgeries and spent countless days in and out of the hospital. Today, she is back in the hospital once again for another surgery.

Throughout this long, difficult journey, Shannon has not been able to work. As you can imagine, the medical expenses have continued to add up.

• Living expenses while she cannot work
