Support Shannon’s Cancer Battle

Dear friends and family,

I’m reaching out with a heavy heart on behalf of my incredible mom, Shannon Andersen, a courageous single mom who is bravely battling invasive lobular carcinoma and DCIS. The road ahead for her is incredibly tough. She will be undergoing a double mastectomy, followed by reconstruction, a process that will take at least three months to recover from. During this time, she won’t be able to work or care for herself in the way she always has.

Shannon has always been the one to put others first. She has raised three teenagers on her own, working tirelessly to provide for us and make sure we always had what we needed. Now, it’s our turn to support her, as she faces a daunting fight for her life and health. The financial burden of medical bills is overwhelming, and with limited PTO, she won’t be able to work while she’s recovering. Barely squeaking by as it is, missing work means bills don’t get paid, groceries don’t be bought, and the weight of day-to-day life will fall even harder on her shoulders.

To make matters even more difficult, Shannon no longer has a car, and without reliable transportation, getting to her doctor’s appointments and running daily errands will become an even greater challenge.

My mom has always been the backbone of our family, the person we turn to for strength and love. But now, she needs us more than ever. Your kindness and generosity can make all the difference in helping her through this unimaginable time. Your support will help ease the financial strain, cover daily living costs, and help with transportation as she focuses on healing and getting back on her feet.

No one should ever have to choose between the care they need and taking care of their children. But if it came down to it, my mom would choose us—her kids—every single time. Now, it’s time for us to choose her.
