My name is Shannen. I am a single mom with Multiple Sclerosis. Currently, myself, my daughter, and our ESA cat have been staying in a motel since last November. My mom and sister also lived with us. We have all lived together for financial reasons, and my mom, sister, and I became disabled, so we supported each other the best we could. We lost our housing in November, so we had to move into a motel and have had difficulty finding housing that is affordable. Unfortunately, we lost our mom to cancer in March, and now my sister has passed away on August 24.

I have now lost 75% of the income we had to try to keep paying for the motel, food, and laundry. My transportation to appointments is by bus because I am in an electric wheelchair, as I haven't been able to walk since 2016 when I was diagnosed with MS. I try to be independent and don't like asking for help, but I am now in a dire situation with only my income to support myself, my daughter, and to feed our ESA cat. My daughter will be returning to school next week, so there will be additional costs with that, too. With only my income trying to pay for the motel, food, laundry, two cellphones, storage units, and transportation, my income alone won't cover it. Now, since my sister passed, I also need assistance with covering funeral costs. I am reaching out to resources to try to get us into housing that is affordable.
