It is with profound grief and shattered hearts that we reach out for support during the most difficult time our family has ever faced. On Thursday night, June 12, 2025, our beloved sister, Shanika D. Milton (37), and our dear cousin, Samuel Brooks (42), were tragically and brutally murdered in Reidsville, NC.

This senseless act has left an unbearable void in our lives and in our family. Shanika and Samuel were cherished members of our community, deeply loved by everyone who knew them. Their sudden and violent passing has left us reeling, trying to comprehend this immense loss.

As we navigate the emotional devastation of losing two precious family members so tragically, we are also faced with the unexpected and overwhelming financial burden of their funeral and memorial expenses. The average cost for a traditional funeral in North Carolina can range from $7,000 to $10,000 per person, and we are grappling with the costs for two services.
