Support Shaney's Fight for Health Relief

My name is Shaney (Shae). If you know anything about me, you know it’s hard for me to ask for help.

Over the past few years, my husband husband, Larry and I, have had near death health experiences.

For a while now, I have been suffering in silence with my health. I had to advocate hard for myself and get a doctor to listen to me. Through extensive testing, I was recently diagnosed with pancreatic insufficiency. Finally, something with a name. I sought 2nd and 3rd opinions. It’s a disorder where the pancreas does not produce enough enzymes for food digestion. Because of this, I’ve had symptoms of excessive gas, abdominal pain, inflammation, bloating, intestinal swelling, nausea, fermentation and abdominal distension (to name a few). No matter what I ate, I was always nauseous. Foregoing meals is not an option since I’m Diabetic.I jokingly mentioned to my Gastroenterologist that I should be a size 2 due to my digestive issues. But, no such luck. If anything, I’ve actually gained weight because of the inflammation and bloating.

To help alleviate my discomfort and pain, I must undergo pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy, known as PERT. The medication, CREON, is not covered by insurance and is very expensive. I have reached out to the manufacturer and am awaiting a response. In the meantime, it’s crucial that I begin the treatment as soon as possible. It’s way overdue.

CREON costs $5,000. Larry and I only have $2,000. We are both on limited income, receiving social security disability, living below the poverty line. Neither of us are able to work. Larry is still recovering from 2 strokes, Metformin toxicity and has cognitive deficits.

I am asking if there is anyway you can make a donation to help me reach my goal to start treatment. Larry and I would appreciate it…tremendously.

If you are not able to contribute, please pray for my comfort, relief and encouragement. I have not been feeling well. Although faithful, it’s been hard for me not to feel discouraged. And, I still need to be supportive to Larry.

I am not ok. But, I’m believing and trusting in God and with your help, this too shall pass.
