Shane, my cousin, was brutally attacked while working at a truck stop. He suffered multiple stab wounds from a Bowie knife, and only by the grace of God is he still alive. His Lima artery was severed, his lung, spleen, pancreas, liver, kidney, stomach, and intestine were all punctured. Some organs were repairable, but others had to be removed. Shane also has many other wounds caused by the knife and the attack. Had he not acted so quickly and fought back, I truly believe he would not have survived. While Shane is still intubated, the medical team has recently been able to lower his sedation level, and he is now responsive and communicating with us as best he can. Still we are facing challenges by the second.

Shane and his family are facing an incredibly difficult road ahead. The medical bills and recovery costs are overwhelming, and both Shane and his wife are unable to work while they adjust to this new reality. They have a six-year-old daughter who needs support, and the uncertainty about Shane's ability to work again makes things even harder. The funds raised will help them cover their house, bills, daily expenses, and desperately needed medical expenses, providing some relief as they navigate this long and challenging journey.

Shane is also a grandpa to two young grandchildren whom he adores. The love he has for his family is a big part of his motivation to fight through this recovery, and your support will help him continue to be there for them.

Shane will have a long road of recovery ahead and may never be the same. The last thing his family needs is to worry about is how everything will be paid for.
